What have I been up to and where am I going?
Hello all!
It has been a while, hasn’t it? I’m sure all of you (and by all, I mean none) have been wondering where I’ve been the past few months. Well, in case you didn’t know, I work for a major shipping company and it just so happens that we get very, very busy towards the end of the year. As such, I did not have much time (nor energy) for writing or editing blog posts and videos. For that, I apologize. I aim to establish a regular posting schedule for 2020 that I can hopefully keep up with. Hopefully is the key word here.
That isn’t the only reason why my output has been so light over the past few months (and some would even say year). While looking over the list of games I had played in 2019 for the annual Pretendie Awards, I noticed that I had a problem: I was suffering from an acute case of writer’s block. I realized that I often wasn’t in the mood to write about anything at any time during the week. Thus, my blog suffered and, as a result, all of my readers were deprived of quality reading material.
So, what am I doing to fix this problem? Well, I’m still facing writer’s block even as I write this so it has been difficult. My solution is to write for at least one hour every day. This will hopefully break the writer’s block and help establish a writing schedule that I can stick to. I don’t know if this strategy will be successful but I am at least going to try. You’ll all know if it doesn’t work.
I will, of course, do more than just write blog posts in 2020. I will continue to record, edit, and upload videos to YouTube. As with the writing, I need to get back into the habit of working on videos again. They are a lot of fun to make and I hope you all have been enjoying them. My big goal for 2020 is to monetize my videos so I am at least making a little money off of this hobby of mine. I don’t know if it’s possible but, just like with my writing schedule, I’m going to try.
I have a fairly good idea about which games I will be writing about in 2020. I hope to finally fulfill the promise that I made at the end of 2018 and review most, if not all, of the mainline Final Fantasy titles starting with VI and ending with XV (though I may include Final Fantasy VII Remake in there as well). I have always admired the Final Fantasy series from afar and I think it is high time that I play and review these games.
If you’re not a fan of the Final Fantasy series, never fear, since I intend to play and review other games throughout the year as well. I currently have plans for another series that is near and dear to my heart that I can’t wait to talk about. As I said, the goal is to play and talk about more games in 2020 than I did in 2019.
Before I go, I do want to thank everyone who has supported both my blog and YouTube channel. Your support means a lot to me. I just hope I don’t let you down this year like I did last year. Rest assured, I will try my hardest to make 2020 the best year ever for The Pretend Gamer.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Tim Colegate

p.s. The reviews will start again next week. I don’t want to spoil anything but it will be a good one. Tell your friends!
